France: Ranked 1st in Europe

It’s easy to find people to criticize France, to say that the Germans are doing better, that the French economy is sclerotic, etc., we know the song. And then there are the data, the GDP figures which show that France is the country, among the big 4 in Europe, which has overcome this health crisis the best. If we use 2018 as the starting point, France stands today ahead of Germany in terms of GDP dynamics.

In terms of employment, the performance is even better. The supportive policy deployed by the authorities seems to have been more effective here than elsewhere. The recourse to debt was certainly more important than in Germany, but was it a bad choice?
